The Giugiaro Quaranta is a concept car designed by Italdesign Giugiaro to celebrate the design firm’s 40th anniversary.

Unveiled at the 2008 Geneva Motor Show, the vehicle serves as a styling tribute to the 1968 Bizzarrini Manta, which was Giorgetto Giugiaro’s first project after founding Italdesign.

It features a hybrid system developed in partnership with Toyota, combining a mid-mounted 3.3-litre V6 petrol engine with two electric motors.

Solar panels are integrated into the roof and front end to recharge the electric battery that powers the vehicle’s electronics.

The car uses a unique “three-plus-one” configuration, with the driver positioned centrally in the front, flanked by two slightly recessed passenger seats and a small child seat behind the driver.

The hybrid system provides approximately 268 bhp, enabling a 0–60 mph time of roughly 4.05 seconds.

It is equipped with an electronic four-wheel-drive system and an E-CVT (Electronic-Continuously Variable Transmission).

The Quaranta is built on a carbon-fiber monocoque structure and features a flat floor, which is made possible by the electronic control of the electric motors, eliminating the need for a traditional mechanical transmission block between the axles.
