Powell Manufacturing Company was based out of Compton, California and is widely known for their line of motor scooters. The company was started in 1926 and originally produced radios.
The most unique feature of the Powell were the optional storage tubes on either or both sides between the inner and outer fenders (Inner bedside storage has recently become an option on some pickups today.)

PMC began manufacturing pickups and a few station wagons in the mid-1950s. These trucks were built on 1940 and 1941
Plymouth sedan chassis and moat had 201ci inline 6-cylinder engines, but because of the unique method of building the trucks, the engines varied.

Early models featured all steel bodies with a fiberglass nose.

Oak bumpers and tailgates were used until they wee deemed unsafe. The chrome grille pieces came from the rear door of a
1950 Ford. The dashboard was also built around the original Plymouth instrument cluster.

In 1955, the only options offered were turn signals and hubcaps. In 1956, the “Deluxe” model included a diamond plate rear bumper, tailgate, and two-tone interior..
