1955 Gaylord Gladiator prototype

Built by the sons of the bobby pin creator, wanting to create a new era of elegant autos. A tube chrome molybdenum frame, powered by a Cadillac 331ci V8 and auto transmission. Body created in Italy but reworked several times, they were never quite satisfied with the styling. It featured hydraulic shocks to change ride height and an aluminum hard top that folded up into the trunk. After realizing they’d need to charge at least 20k per car they decided to give up. Totally weird and wild, I rather like this failed dream. Only this prototype and one frame exist today.
